I’m always trying to think of useful ideas for the DIY blogging segment over here on Fall For DIY. It’s sometimes difficult to write about blogging subjects in a different way from how it’s already been done and still be full of beneficial information to the reader. That’s why I love it when you ask me questions. It really helps me to look at my processes thoroughly and honestly. I try to find a way to explain what I do in a way that could genuinely be useful for anyone looking to start or already blogging. Or even if you’re promoting a product… Read More
Fall For DIY | Ladder Shelf Hack
It’s not often that I buy new furniture. This DIY ladder shelf hack is by far the newest piece I own. My home is full of second-hand finds sometimes purchased from charity shops and sometimes rescued from skips. Some of my favourite furniture has literally been about to be torn apart when I got my hands on it (imagine me running through car parks screaming stop at some stunned looking skip men!) The great thing about these items is how easy it is to update and customise them. I never think twice about painting, sanding and even sawing through them in the… Read More
DIY Coffee and Coconut Soap Sticks
I made these coffee and coconut marbled soap sticks after I had the most fun making my Semi Precious Stone Soaps. There’s such huge potential for shape and colour and flavour and decoration when you’re making soap. I’m just starting to scratch the surface! For this project I wanted to explore using natural ingredients to not only make the soap look and smell fantastic but that would be kind and beneficial to your skin as well. The soap bases I’ve used an Argan Oil soap mixed with freshly ground coffee for the darker marbling. Argan oil is amazing at fighting acne and blemishes…. Read More
DIY Blogging | Blogging Disaster
Do you ever get those days when you wish you could just start again from the beginning or for choice of a better word (you’ll see why) delete the day and just continue on without it ever happening? Yes, yesterday was definitely one of those days. Why? Because little old ‘thinks she is a web developer’ over here deleted the blog from the face of the earth early Sunday morning!! As you can imagine, a stressful 6 hours ensued with me shakily trying to explain what I did over a web chat to my host who (bless him/her) managed to… Read More
Fall For DIY | Incense Holder
For the first year me and Al were together he had this whole thing about calling me a hippy. I’m not sure if it came from the days I would wear big flared jeans and wooden beaded necklaces back in my teenage years (we’ve been friends for a long time and we were just out of the 90’s) or if it was my life long passion for recycling (saving the planet and indulging my hoarder inner self without the clutter. What’s not to like?) but I’d playfully take offence at the idea. Then we start living together and the boy starts… Read More
Fusilli Lunghi con Buco with Vegan Coconut and Walnut Cream sauce
Those of you who know me will I’m partial to a novelty shaped pasta. Pasta in it’s most boring form is a wonderfully comforting food so serve me a bowl of bows and I’m listening. Cover those bows in something creamy and I’m yours. So over the past couple of years I’ve been perfecting the art of a creamy vegan sauce and you know what? It’s actually pretty easy to achieve. (Cheese on the other hand is another matter all together! Don’t even get me started.)
DIY Faux Ceramic Glazed Beads
My love of clay continues. I’m thinking of writing a pop up disclaimer for the blog. “Warning. High percentage of clay based projects alert. Proceed with caution.” After this polymer clay tutorial today we have an air dry clay tutorial coming up on Thursday and then I promise I will be mixing up the materials for a few DIYs I’m pretty excited about! But for today lets continue with the faux ceramic look. I love this faux glaze technique I’ve discovered and it’s unbelievably simple. I can’t believe it took me this long to figure it out! I made my… Read More
Styling the Seasons | New Habits
The idea of a new start is always so appealing. It’s why we make new years resolutions and why I think Easter is still such a popular holiday even to the less religious of us (well, that and the promise of giant chocolate eggs of course!) The idea of a new period of time that will miraculously cure us of all our bad habits is appealing but really I think we all know that to realistically change something we have to put in the effort. That’s why this Easter I’m finally posting my first Styling the Seasons post!! I’ve been… Read More
