Disclosure – I have previously worked with Brother and Skitch. This blog post is not a part of any paid promotions. I just wanted to share my honest opinion!
Digital machine embroidery has been on my craft bucket list for as long as I can remember! I love everything about machine embroidery, from cute, graphic patches to delicate more subtle accents. The idea of adding embroidered detail to clothes and homewares easily and quickly was such a draw, but actually making the leap to buy an expensive embroidery machine and learn complicated processes was something I had neither the spare money or time for. So I popped it on the to do list for another time and left it there. That was until the amazing Skitch came along.
Full disclosure, Brother sent me the Skitch to try out and share on my social channels, but the very first thing I noticed about this machine was the price. At £500 it’s a steal. Especially compared to the £2500+ embroidery machines I had previously decided were way out of my budget. At this price it’s much easier to justify especially if you wanted to make and sell your own designs.
Skitch and Artspira
But it’s not just the impressive cost that excited me about the Skitch. I also loved how accessible it makes machine embroidery, even if you’ve never done it before. The Artspira app is linked via Bluetooth to the Skitch and is both simple and fun to use even as a complete beginner. Throughout the design process the we are guided by video tutorials. From setting up the fabric to threading the machine and bobbin, the process is broken down step by step making this a fool proof experience.
There are so many free designs in the app to pick from so you’re able to get started straight away! New designs being uploaded all the time and you can even add up to 10 of your own designs at a time for free. There is a subscription option for the premium designs or to create your own in the app. This is £9.99 a month.
The very first thing I made are these matching jeans for me and my daughter which are so cute! I have a full video tutorials of the process below. If you have any questions leave me a comment over on my Instagram post.
I ended up cutting my pair into shorts which I’ve been living in all summer. But with the Autumn chill setting in I’ll just have to Skitch myself a new pair of jeans for the cooler months. But I’ll be adding that to my to loooong Skitch list because I have too many ideas already! Expect to see some more ideas, tutorials and festive fun with the Skitch here very soon. I’m obsessed!
