Happy September! I hope your August was as great as mine. Even though many, many years have past since I was in school I still feel like September is the time to start buckling down working hard after the summer. It’s great to get one last burst of energy before the Christmas rush and hopefully a more relaxed end to the year.
DIY Stained Glass Bottles
I’ve always been a little obsessed with stained glass. I love exploring old churches with those beautiful windows. If you find them at the right time of day the colour from the light can change the atmosphere around you. It’s quite magical. I’ve wanted to try recreating that look for years. I love playing with perspex but there’s nothing quite like the way sunlight moves through glass. So I’ve made these colourful, translucent bottles for beautiful storage, small vases or just very pretty windowsill accents that you can whip inexpensively.

Dress – Peacocks (on sale now!) | Sandals – Similar here I don’t know if it’s because a lot of my work relies on the right light or because I’m a summer girl at heart, but I’ve noticed the days are getting shorted and the evenings are getting darker. I am always shocked when summer starts drawing in. The seasons seem to change way to fast and all of a sudden it’s time to dig out the jumpers and scarves again. It’s a classic case of don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. I spend most of the summer enjoying longer… Read More
Highlights from a Hashtag – Your Photos of our Embroidery Kit
@thevibrantpixel | @monmoandco | @veralynnpetersen @laurakim91 | @chroniques.assidues | @mostlyminted @staceythomas2 | @emmakesandbakes | @rachelrosecox The funny thing about packing up hundred of We Make Collective kits and sending them off all around the world is imagining each kit being opened and wondering what beautiful things are going to be made with them. One of my favourite parts of running a subscription kit service is getting to know your names really well. When you pop up in my inbox or I’m printing out your address labels, I feel like I get to know you even though I don’t know what most of you look like! I really… Read More
DIY Balsa Wood Ring Holders
You can never have enough rings, so naturally by extension you can never have enough ring holders. In the past I haven’t worn very much jewellery. Most likely because it’s always stored away, hidden from my morning eyes. But the more I keep it out and on show the more I remember to accessorise on a regular basis. These DIY balsa wood ring holders are made from thin strips of wood which are easy to cut with a craft knife meaning you don’t need any special tools to create and build up shapes like these ring holders and this planter…. BUY/DIY Candles
Happy weekend! I’m writing this from my living room on a fully charged laptop, a cup of coffee on the table in front of me and without using up all my tethering allowance. What a wild Saturday night. But after exactly two days and four hours of no electricity these little everyday normalities are actually a real treat! I’ve spent the last few days in the dark, figuratively and literally. And as much as I already love candles, I’ve developed a whole new appreciation for those waxy lumps! Over the past 48 hours I’ve realised you can never have enough candles…. Read More

DIY Perspex Candle Holders
Hello! This is not exactly a new material here on Fall For DIY but Perspex is such a lovely material to work with so I thought I’d give the material its due. Not only does it look sleek and clean but it’s actually quite easy to manipulate and shape with some very basic tools. As much as I don’t like to admin it summer will be over soon and we’ll be back to candle lighting season (although I do light them all year round to be honest!) I love having a range of scented, tea light and taper candles, but I… Read More
