They say when you first move into a house wait for one year before you renovate the kitchen. After living in our house for over a year I couldn’t agree more. In fact I’d take it even further and say it applies to more in the kitchen. It actually applies to your whole home. In the first year we made big differences to a lot of the rooms, but we’re not even halfway there yet. When we first moved in I was in such a rush to get the living and dining areas finished. I wanted to enjoy this part of… Read More
DIY Easy Dining Bench
I love this trend of having a bench one side of the dining table and chairs the other, and it’s not just because I only have two dining chairs (that are currently getting their own makeover). I feel like a bench brings people together more, literally and figuratively. Sitting on a bench there is no gap or arm rest separating you from the person next to you. And while the bench makes us closer physically, putting a bench on one side of the table also makes it feel more lived in. Like it’s less important that everything matches. We don’t need… Read More
DIY Cabinet Upcycle with ALDI for Teenage Cancer Trust
There’s nothing more pleasing than a really great upcycle. I love creating these projects for a number of reasons. It’s great for the environment, even better for your bank balance and while you’re at it you are scoring some serious creativity points with yourself. But the best thing about a great upcycle project is that you finally put all those hours spent browsing Pinterest to good use. Meaning you can totally justify a little more time Pinning (including this post of course!) My upcycled projects usually come out of either being unable to find exactly what I’m looking for, or… Read More
DIY Paper Floral Mobile with Hobbycraft
This post has been sponsored by Hobbycraft. All words and opinions are my own. Not knowing whether Ollen was going to be a girl or a boy meant we didn’t go for a classic, boy or girl room for him. But we also didn’t want to stick to ‘neutral’ colours for his bedroom. I wanted his room to be a hideaway for him. A safe place in the world, full of wonder and imagination. I’m sure as he gets older he’ll want more traditionally ‘boy’ elements in his room (or maybe not – we’ll leave that for him to decide)… Read More
DIY Legged Basket Planter
According to Alex I’m preparing our home for a 6-inch mini flood. Slightly elevating even our plants off the ground – ironically they’re maybe the one thing that would survive (and probably welcome) a slow influx of water. What’s more likely is that these planters will be moved to even higher ground once Ollen starts making his way around the house. I can’t see them lasting long with grabby hands tugging at the leaves, but for now they’re safe from being tipped by both babies and freak weather conditions. In the past I’ve used Pretty Pegs replacement legs and found them easy… Read More
DIY Put a Pattern on it! Baby T-shirt
I’m pretty sure one of the best things about having children is getting to dress them up. Yeah I said it. Sure, watching them grow, seeing those first smiles/steps/words is pretty amazing, but day to day, getting to pick out the cute outfits is very fun. Whether you go for miniature versions of adult clothes, bright patterns and colours or soft, baby knitted goodness you always end up with something adorable. Although saying this I am actually quite particular about Ollen’s clothes. I tend to choose simple designs although I do like some patterns. Preferring things that have been thoughtfully… Read More
DIY Plywood Wrap Planters Made Easy with Gorilla Glue Mounting Tape
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Gorilla Glue Company . All opinions are 100% mine. I love to keep up with trends, especially when it comes to interior design. I’d happily paint the walls every six months to keep things looking fresh. But for most people (including Al… actually including me too) that is just not feasible. So instead of spending every weekend of the year constantly painting different rooms in my home, I just make much easier updates to my accessories. One of the downsides about moving with trends is that it tends to… Read More
DIY Soft Toy Leaf Rattles with the Cricut Maker
When I was pregnant I had so many plans to make Ollen everything he’d ever need in life. OK, so maybe not everything – I’m pretty new to this so I’ll leave most of it to the experts. But I did want to make the fun stuff. Cute clothes, toys, mobiles etc.. but it turns out babies like to keep you on your toes. We’re pretty much only just getting to the point where I feel I can spend a little time each week on making and being creative. So anything that helps move this process along a little faster… Read More
