I’m very much looking forward to this fantastic four day bank holiday weekend. I have big plans to launch my new blog design, start work on my an idea I’ve had for a DIY jewellery range (some surprises here) spend a little bit of time with the family and hopefully get round to a few cheeky Sunday cocktails. I miss the taste of an espresso martini! But before I get started on all that I wanted to share one of my latest tutorials for Tuts+ How to Make a Shrink Plastic Geo Bunny Pendant. Something to do in between stuffing… Read More
DIY Quartz Stone & Rhinestone Earrings
I’ve got to admit, I was getting a little jealous of all the amazing rhinestone earring DIYs that I was seeing. Some serious beauts out there! So, now that I have the power of E6000 at my finger tips I thought I’d give one a go myself. I had some quartz crystal clusters lying around and thought I’d add it to the rhinestone design to give an even more precious aesthetic. Here’s how I did it: Materials: Rhinestones and Gemstones Quartz Crystal Clusters Earring Posts E6000 Glue Something clear and plastic. I’ve used a food container lid *I use Etsy… Read More
DIY Chain Layer Necklace
I know I’m late to this party, but how good is E-6000 glue?! I first heard about this glue many years ago when a customer to the bead shop was telling me about how she made a sparkly microphone with rhinestones and a tube of E-6000 and I’ve been meaning to pick some up ever since. Well, I finally took the plunge and ordered a tube online. I don’t know if it was the fumes (please open a window when you’re using it) or the sheer power of this glue that made me giddy, but what I did know was… Read More
DIY Pastel Pop Egg Cups
I wasn’t planning on creating an Easter tutorial. It just wasn’t something that inspired me to create. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to turn down the chocolate eggs anyone throws my way but I have no desire to decorate eggs or decorate with eggs. I genuinely think all the Easter DIY’s other bloggers have made are beautiful especially egg shell candles and the gorgeous embellished eggs, but I just don’t get excited about making them and living in a 50% vegan household it seems pretty pointless to decorate all the eggs for myself… But then Sunday happened. I… Read More
DIY Faux Buffalo Horn Necklace
With spring comes this almost primeval urge to clean, sort, organise and start afresh. It’s quite telling that as human beings we’re constantly trying to start again rather than fix the underlying problems. Sometimes it’s easier to abandon the broken than try to fix it, a trait that may have perhaps led us to the throw away culture we now live our lives based on. The fear of failure drives us to cease striving and instead of powering through, we give up on ourselves and abandon our aspirations to follow suit. I want to be the person that doesn’t give… Read More
Fall For… Perfect Porcelain
Porcelain is such an unexpected luxurious material. It’s delicate properties secretly contradict it’s sturdy, almost stone like aesthetic. It’s stark white colouring complements a range of hues and although it’s not an obvious jewellery substance it looks as fantastic in this application as it does as traditional tablewear. I’m taking my inspiration from these beautiful examples. Expect to see some tutorials coming soon! 1. Sweet Little Pot 2. Elephant Ceramics 3. Bookhou 4. Pinto Cups 5. White Porcelain Necklace 6. Abstract Mosaics 7. Comoé Porcelain Rings
DIY Faux Labradorite Geo Drop Earrings
April Fools! No this is not a real gem stone… lol. Anyway… Precious stones and sparkly gems are going no where in a hurry so I decided to try out another faux crystal jewellery tutorial. Rather than make another DIY pendant necklace I saw an opportunity to make these elegant faux labradorite Geometric Drop Earrings. I think one of my favourite things about these earrings is that they can be worn in two different ways. The chain in slipped onto the earring post before putting it in the ear and can be easily removed leaving a small and understated faux… Read More
DIY Marble Planters
These DIY marble planters are quick, easy and ridiculously cheap to make. I’ve been hoarding empty food packaging to make concrete vases (alas one day) but it was getting a little too bag lady in my office and I needed somewhere nice to put my one remaining basil. Such a trooper, he’s come back from near death and needed somewhere nice to grow. And you know me. I’m always looking for excuses to pull out the marble contact paper… Materials: Cylindrical Packaging | Strong Multipurpose Glue | Craft Knife | Contact Paper Instructions: 1. Measure the length and diameter of your packaging and… Read More
