Today I’m giving a talk at Spring Fair in Birmingham (for anyone who’s going today you can come and see me at 11.15). The talk is about growing your online brand by creating compelling and engaging content and then using social media to promote it and gain fans. I’m hoping everyone will come away with a new (or rejuvenated) love of blogging and be ready to start sharing away their lives and talents with all of their followers new and old. But I only have half an hour and that’s no where near enough time to dive into a in… Read More
DIY Minimal Knotted Rope Keychain
Today I wanted to share a couple of things with you. Firstly this DIY Minimal Knotted Rope Keychain tutorial I made is up over on Brit+Co. You can head over there to check out how to make it today. And secondly (here comes the soppy bit) just how much you guys all mean to me! If you following me on Instagram then you might have already heard me gushing about how I’m so happy to have this blog and the community we’ve made around it. It’s somewhere I know I can come and talk about some of the more difficult aspects… Read More
DIY Giant Loom
I know I’m not alone when I say how much I’ve loved watching this weaving trend develop and grow. As a textile design graduate anything involving building up textures and creating fabrics gets my heart pumping and I’ve jealously looked on at all the beautiful pieces on Instagram and Etsy. I wanted to join in and be making them as well – so it’s taken a while but I’ve decided that I would just go ahead and get weaving. But before I did I spent some time thinking about what was stopping me in the first place? Writing this blog I… Read More
DIY Concrete Hexagon Coasters
My coaster obsession continues. Give me anything that have such a simple function and combine that with texture, shape and design and I’m sold. As well as being beautifully minimal these concrete hexagon coasters have a wonderful irregular unity. They fit as a set but also each have their own ‘flaws’ or personality. I’m not quite sure how I’ve become so besotted with my coaster collection but it’s growing rapidly and I need to find other uses to even up my coaster mug ratio again (or perhaps I just need more mugs?) Which is another reason why I love this DIY… Read More
Fall For DIY Mollie Makes Takeover!
If you’re a regular reader or follow me pretty much anywhere online you’ll probably already know that I took over Mollie Makes Instagram and Pinterest last week. It was such fun! Hello to all you guys who might have found out about this little blog through the takeover. It’s a massive pleasure to have you here! You guys are ace. Throughout the take over I posted a few pictures of me putting some of my crochet skills to good use. I love an evening spent under a blanket stitching away but I always set my goals to high and tend… Read More
DIY Dotted Wall Clock
The clock face is definitely experiencing a comeback right now. I’m in dire need of a beautiful large face watch with a lovely beige strap. You know, if anyone reading just happens to make/sell them and wants to send one my way… I’ll take lots of pretty Instagram pictures… please!? Oh well, shameless request over with. In all seriousness I really do love the new contemporary patterns and designs popping up on our time pieces in the past few years so I couldn’t resist giving one a go. I’ve never done anything with clock mechanisms before so I decided to… Read More
DIY Mark Jacobs inspired Pretzel Earrings
I’m absolutely loving foodie accessories at the moment. These DIY pretzel earrings are inspired by a gorgeous Mark Jacobs earring design that are now sold out! You can’t even buy them anymore. Fear not, because you can whip these little treats up in no time at all for a fraction of the price. Always a bonus! Then team them up with this Donut Necklace for the perfect sweet and savoury combo.. a little overboard, really? Ok. Alternate them instead. You can find out how to make these earrings using the tutorial I wrote over at Brit+Co. YUM!!
DIY Bright Tipped Faux Antler
I’m a little late to the antler party. Living with the vegan boy means decorating the house with animal parts (for want of a better word) is pretty much a no go. Even though I always loved the natural aesthetic of stag antlers and animal hide it weighed on my conscious and it’s just something I don’t think I could live with but when it comes to making faux animal accessories I’m totally on board! But I’m guessing that doesn’t surprise anyone here, and while we’re at it why not make it a little more colourful? Materials: Air dry clay… Read More
