If you follow me over on Instagram you will have seen the sofa saga from the past few years. Our sofa has slowly been in decline and it was time to find a new one. As we often have friends and family visit us it made sense to buy a sofa bed and less than two weeks after making the purchase we are planning to have a friend stay the night. So if you want to give your guest a cosy nights sleep read on!
Now, I love this sofa. It’s exactly the right size, is beautifully designed and even comfortable to sit on which is unusual with sofa beds, but the mattress is less than perfect. The biggest problem being the springs. Not wanting our guest to spend the night tossing and turning we looked into our options to create a more cosy and comfortable bed.

As a long time fan of our king size Simba mattress this was our first port of call and of course they had the perfect solution to our mattress problem. We quickly decided on the Simba Hybrid mattress topper. This is claimed to create cushioned comfort to any mattress and I can confirm in our case this is 100% true. The mattress topper is a layer of luxury that turns our springy sofa bed into a cosy haven.
It’s easily folded out into place on the existing mattress and is ready to use straight away. The combination of 2500 alloy microsprings and foam create a firm but snug layer to rest on, so much so we’ve even had a couple of family movie nights getting cosy in the sofa bed just for fun.

While the mattress topper is doing all the heavy lifting for us, I still find there are many ways to ensure your guests have a comfortable stay and cosy nights sleep.
Good Quality Bedding
Ensuring the bedding is a freshly cleaned, matching, good quality set is so important to ensuring your guests feels not only welcome but
Lighting
For the perfect night’s sleep we need to get the lighting right. We have a street lamp directly outside so we make sure we have heavy duty curtains to block out the light pollution. We make sure the room is very dark, but also provide lamps for quick, accessible light should someone need it. We don’t want stubbed toes while grappling for a light switch in the middle of the night!
A Little Extra Luxury
I was once locked out of my house for a few days and a friend kindly put me up while I had the spare key delivered (a story for another day!) When I arrived she had put together a basket with a few bits that I’d need. It was all simple items from around the house, but it felt so kind and thoughtful. It’s something that I now love to do for people and it can also help aid sleep. I like to include a simple lavender spray to spritz the bedsheets before climbing in, a moisturiser for ultimate comfort and a bottle of water so there’s no need to rummage around an unfamiliar kitchen in the middle of the night.

I could go on and on about how comfortable the mattress topper is but the biggest indorsement came directly from our guest. She commented on the great night sleep she had while here. While I would like to say it was all the extra touches that added to her undisrupted night of rest, I think we all know we owe it to the Simba hybrid mattress topper
