My collection of Christmas decorations is an ever evolving mixture of old and new. While I generally keep a few favourites year after year I do like to update the look with some fresher pieces that reflect the latest Christmas trends. The past few years I have leaned into the natural trends from festive decorations. This typically takes colours and themes from late Autumn into the Christmas season. Warm oranges and greens, mushroom and woodland ornaments, and even taking elements from nature itself to decorate with.
Whether you’re just updating your Christmas decor with a few pieces or starting from scratch, Very is a great place to start. Their seasonal decor is collated into festive themes, so no matter what your personal style you are sure to find something to suit.
For the star of the show I’ve chosen this absolutely stunning 7ft Sherwood Real Look Full Christmas Tree from the huge range of artificial trees on offer. This is a large tree and if you have the space, such a show-stopper. Very do also have a 6ft version as well as a slimline tree for smaller spaces. The tree itself is so busy and made up from different styles of branches to give it a really natural look. Be warned though, it took me about 2 hours of fluffing to pull out all the branches! But remember before fluffing to get your base in place… trust me on this! I used this White Wash Willow Round Christmas Tree Skirt to cover the stand. This is one of the largest tree skirts I have seen which works perfectly with this large tree. The natural willow ties in with our theme and gives a gorgeous neutral base to work up from.
Once the tree was fully set up and in place it was time for decorating! As we all know first on are the lights, then garlands. I always add my handmade wood bead garlands to every tree, but on this large, bushy tree they got a little bit lost. I decided to make another garland from dried orange slices which fiddle the gaps in between. I’m so glad I did! The warmth from the oranges pop against the deep green of the tree and smell incredible every single time I walk past. To make the garland I sliced and dried my oranges in the oven on a low heat for 2 hours. Once they were cool I threaded cotton cord through the oranges stitching them together to make the garland. I’ll store these garlands in zip lock bags and they’ll be good for years.
Moving on to the baubles I found this beautiful Pack of 50 Enchanted Forest Christmas Baubles. Mixed metallics are a huge Christmas trend and these colours tie in easily with the natural theme. These shiny accents add a splash of glamour to the tree and makes it feel much more grown up. I also couldn’t resist these glittering Set of 6 Large Acorn Christmas Tree Decorations alongside the equally beautiful Glass Pinecone Christmas Tree Decorations. These whimsical, oversized details are unmissable on any tree!
Another trend I’m seeing a lot of in the past few years is adding additional branches, flowers and sprigs to the tree. Very have a large range of picks you can choose from. My favourite are the incredible soft and fluffy Faux Fur Eucalyptus Christmas Tree Picks. And to finish the tree I’ve added these Icicle Hanging Christmas Tree Decorations.
But who says the decorations need to stay on the tree! Make your home feel really festive by adding decorative touches wherever you can. Coffee tables, shelving and even the floor can be adorned with Christmas treats. If you have small children or pets who like to get involved with the decorations (or more likely taking them down) then this is the solution. Let the fallen decorations stay on the floor! I’ve decorated around the gifts underneath my tree with these Large Flocked Christmas Tree Baubles, so if any extras fall off they can sit alongside these like they were meant to be there all along!
If you’re decorating any shelves or coffee tables I particularly love these LED Tree Candle Christmas Decorations to give a wonderful warmth. They’re made from wax, but are battery powered with no flame. I feel so much safer leaving them on while the kids are around and I don’t have to worry about replacing them when they burn down. You can also add these to any surface safely and they look fantastic perched on beautiful hardback books.
One of my favourite places to decorate each year is the large shelf under my television. As this is the focal point of the room I love adding and changing the decor here every year. I’ve always wanted to add some small houses or a winter scene to this shelf so I snapped up this
White Wood Lit Village Scene Christmas Decoration which gives such a warming glow. My children are obsessed with it and I love lighting it as the sun goes down early in the afternoon. I’ve also added this Set of 2 Snowflake Christmas Ornaments and this Bristle Table Top Christmas Tree which is a really beautiful, natural take on the classic bottle brush tree. Of course no festive decoration would be complete without a wreath and garland. The Acorn Draping Garland and the Bell and Acorn Christmas Wreath work perfectly together.
