I love all the positivity and aspirations January brings with it, but if we’re totally honest a week of dark mornings can stifle all our best laid plans and all of a sudden we’re back on the sofa comfort eating mashed potato (just me?) and not getting things done. To combat this I’ve started prolific list making. I know what you’re thinking, making lists won’t stop the procrastination but I may have come up with a system to beat it!
I think it’s about finding a routine that works for you and fits around your needs. I start to get separation anxiety if I’m two feet away from my phone or laptop at any time so I knew I needed somewhere that I could check, jot down and schedule on some sort of electronic device that would store all in one place. There are a lot of apps that do this and I believe it’s all about personal preference but Wunderlist is ‘working wonders’ for me at the moment. (This is not a sponsored post, it’s just what I’m using myself)
The trick to making lists is to get down every last ugly detail of your life and schedule. Need to pay a bill, clean your bathroom, write a blog post, buy stamps etc write it down. Writing and scheduling all of your jobs from big to small in a reliable place (that you can find easily and assign a deadline to) clears the stress of trying to remember them. I’m so guilty of starting one job then getting sidetracked once I remember another probably more interesting (or just different) task and then never getting either one finished. With my new list making app in place I can quickly note down the things that pop up in my head and continue with the task at hand knowing I won’t forget them.
So I’ve started enforcing working to the end of one job before I start another which I know is pretty basic productivity but it’s taken me this long to figure it out. There’s also this incredibly satisfying ding once you check a job off your Wunderlist, which I can feel having the same effect as one of those dog clickers. I’m getting a metaphorical bone from a computer each time I get something done… What’s not to love?
In the spirit of using your phone for productive reasons I thought I’d kick off my 12 Month DIY phone case challenge with something a bit motivational. A little something to remind myself to check my list and get something done when I feel like I’m slacking off. Productivity, Bitch! (really hope you’re all getting that reference right now and don’t think the organising has gone to my head.)

If you want the front of you phone to look just as great as the back then the awesome Kate over at Beak Up Crafts has a monthly phone wallpaper she is giving away on her blog today! I love her theme this month (obviously). It’s definitely something I would love to write more about over here. Perhaps another time!
Do you guys have any tips for staying productive. I’d love to hear more ideas!

hi there! I just wanted to share my project that you inspired :) I recreated your rope basket that you posted in december: http://www.lettersandbeads.de/?p=537
I have one question, though: what kind of paint did you use for the white bottom of the basket? The color doesn’t pop up quite like I imagined on my basket…
Best regards, Biene

Completely agree here. I try to stay motivated even in the hardest times. It’s a good thing to know when you can ask for help and receive it and this is what i use. When i’ve tasked to do nursing essay writing i do know that there are many companies that can provide me with it and provide the highest quality work. And this is when become relaxed, when everything is done
