I’ve had this post in the pipeline for a while now. All dressed up with nowhere to go.. my bad. It’s essentially a great spring/summer post, but I’ve missed the boat completely for that! (maybe you southern hemisphere lot will appreciate it!) but for the rest of us, I say forget dark autumn colours. Let the summer fun live on and keep things playful. Here are some of my favourite pastelly stuff from around on the web that do just that.
DIY Blue Stone Bracelet
I’ve had these blue Lapis Lazuli chips for a long time now without knowing what to do with them. When it comes to DIY I hoard everything I can get my hands on, which can sometimes works out for me, but sometimes leaves me with a lot of useless junk. So it always makes me happy when I use up something that has been living with me for some time already. This bracelet is perfect for using beads or chips that have been in your life for a little too long! Instructions: 1. Thread the stone chips on to an eye… Read More
Teahab’s Tutorial Highlights
If you’ve found yourself here it’s because you’ve come over (forced redirect by myself…) from my older blog Teahab. I wanted to bring all of my tutorials together in one place and concentrate on making Fall For DIY a great source of information and creativity. So please, take a look around. If there’s anything you can’t find drop me a line at fran@fallfordiy.com and I’ll make sure we’re all up to date!
DIY Faux Agate
I’ve been so looking forward to sharing this project with all of you. After my first venture into polymer clay I realised what a wonderful and versatile material it was. It got my mind ticking over. I wanted to see how far I could take it. Can I transform a cheap and accessible substance into something precious and desirable? I had a ton of ideas, many of which I’m still planning on experimenting (and hopefully will be showing you all) with. If you like the look of this one, here’s how to do it: Materials Polymer clay | Glitter glass |… Read More
Fall For DIY | Plaited Bracelet
Before I began writing this blog I had my first blog Teahab. One of my most popular posts on Teahab was this tutorial, so I thought I’d also show all of our new readers over here as well! What do you think?
DIY Translucent Plastic Bracelet
It has been non stop around here lately. The whole direction of my life seems unstable as if it’s been changing day to day. Sometime scary, sometimes exciting and sometimes just plain exhausting. In the past year I’ve definitely taken on more than I can handle, and I’m starting to get to a point where I’m assessing my options and weighing up what is really important to me. I’m still working on getting the balance right. I don’t know if I’m ever going to get that down. I tend to live in extreme highs and lows when I’d really just… Read More
DIY Simple Necklace Jewellery Making Video Tutorial
I’m a fiend when it comes to learning new skills. The thought of taking on a new challenge and learning something different gets me out of bed everyday. I’m so lucky that I get to do this in both my (new) job as community manager for Hobzy and when writing my blog. I think it’s why I enjoy writing a DIY blog and teaching other people my skills. I want to give another person that feeling of achievement and fulfilment I get when I’ve been shown how to do something I’ve never done before. That “oh yeah!” feeling. This is… Read More
Fall For DIY | Lace Tube Ring
In this tutorial I’ve combined my love of anything lacey with a big old chunk of metal to toughen it up a bit, or alternatively to give hardware a lovely, softer edge… whatever you’re in the mood for I guess. This is another tutorial that uses pipe from a DIY store so I’m using up my leftovers from this tutorial along with some lace scraps, which makes this project super cheap. Instructions: Measure out and cut piece of pipe to the size you would like your ring. Ideally use a pipe cutter, and watch for sharp edges. File down all of… Read More
