I’ve been making a start on DIYing my perfect Paris break wardrobe and I was so excited about this one it had to be the first! I’d never marbled onto fabric before now, so there was a bit of trial and error involved in making these, but I’m so pleased with the outcome. I’m imagining running around on the banks of the river Seine in these little beauties. The perfect item for the tourist trail! Materials: Slip-on Canvas Sneakers Mod Podge Nail Varnish Instructions: 1. Masking tape off any sections you don’t want to get marbled. 2. Pour a couple… Read More
How To Make Fish Hook Ear Wires
When I first learnt how to make my own ear wires it was like a whole new world had opened up. Before this, I was limited to the supplies I had on hand. Jewellery making consisted of adding beads and charms to ready made earring and chains, but learning how to create the earring wire made me realise I could do so much more than that! So this one was a pretty important one for me I guess. Note: Do not use 1cm thick wire!! I meant 1mm, sorry…. Instructions: 1. Cut off around two inches of wire. 2. Bend… Read More
Inspire. A Weekend in Paris
I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never been to Paris. Considering how easy it is to get there I am surprised myself that I’ve never crossed over (or under) the channel to get to the most romantic city in the world. Well, that’s set to change and what better reason for a wish list than a holiday? And that’s just what this is; my wish list. I wish I could have all these things! So as well as hunting for a few bargains I’ll be putting together a few DIY tutorials (you know me) to make my wishes come true.
DIY Enamel Faux Agate Necklace
Another Faux Agate Jewellery tutorial! Is this starting to get a little over the top? I just keep on getting inspired by the beauty of semi precious stones and wanting to replicate them in my accessories. I guess it doesn’t hurt that they’re bang on trend at the moment. May as well make the most of it! Enamel Instruction: I’ve used cold enamel from a kit. Mixed with a hardener this will set in 12 – 24 hours. Follow the instructions provided with your enamel carefully so you don’t end up with a gooey mess. 1. Mix three enamel colours;… Read More
How To Make a Beaded Chain
Last week I posted a tutorial to turn chain into a necklace and afterward had a few requests for how to make a chain. This is an easy and quick way to make your own bracelet or necklace chain with beads, eye pins and jump rings. Find a little time and you can make as much chain as you could ever need! Materials: Beads. Eyepins. Jump Rings (not pictured) Instructions: 1. Thread a bead onto an eyepin. 2. Fold the pin 90% to the bead and cut 1cm away from the hole. 3. Turn a loop in the end of… Read More
DIY Concrete Dangle Earrings
If you haven’t noticed I’ve been a bit infatuated with concrete lately, so when I had a little extra mixed up I thought I’d make something quick and easy with the leftovers. I love how elegant these earrings are. A little gold accent contracted with the white concrete makes these earrings look much more precious than they really are. Here are some other examples of how gold accents can make a massive difference on the whole aesthetic of a piece. Instructions: 1. Mix up a little concrete (I’ve used snowcrete – a white concrete). You’ll only need a small amount… Read More
Fall For Favourites
Gold accents are enough to make even the most base materials look luxurious and extravagant. Just look at the gold dipped concrete vases many bloggers are making at the moment. Always gorgeous. I’ve got big plans to make some myself! I’ve collected together some of my other favourite gold accent posts from a few of my favourite DIY bloggers. These guys are some serious talent. Get on this! 1. Gold Foil Tumblers / 2. Gold Leaf Clay Ring Bowl / 3. Modern Mousepad / 4. Paillette Sequin Collar
DIY Concrete Love Hearts Necklace
For the past couple of weeks I’ve been well and truly landed firmly on the concrete DIY band wagon. I love the mixture of rough and smooth textures you get when working with raw concrete and I’ve wanted to explore using the material in jewellery making now for some time. So I whipped out (who am I kidding, I never put it away) my new fondant gemstone mould and got to work. I’ve been experimenting with consistency, colour and dyes to make the pastel shades. I’ll be posting more about that another time so pop over to Bloglovin and follow… Read More
