I've said it before and I'll say it again - Easter has got to be one of my favourite holidays to DIY here on the blog. I'm not sure if it's that we're edging into those bright, spring days which are getting longer and warmer (finally!), or feeling like I have tons of energy after being drowsy all winter, but I'm enjoying the build up to chocolate eggs and cute bunnies day. (Which is what I like to call the big E) For me no brand encapsulates this spring mood as well as Anthropologie. I am in … [Read more...]

DIY Copper and Pine Magazine Rack Kit
When I look back at my early days of blogging it seems like a stroke of luck that when I first started I was managing a small bead shop. Every one of my early tutorials used materials we sold in the shop and online, so I knew that anyone reading the site and wanting to make the jewellery would be able to. No problem spending hours online sourcing materials! When I'm researching ideas for this blog one of my first thoughts after 'how can I make this?' is 'how easy is it to find the materials?' … [Read more...]
All in the Details | DIY Copper Wire Clothes Hangers
I've tried - unsuccessfully - on and off for a few years now to add a fashion series to the blog. Ideally I wanted to combine it with a more personal post. Just a little backstory or insight into my little world to give me more of a chance of connecting with you guys. In my head these posts would include me, looking casual but stunning, out for a coffee or at a gallery. You know, the usual stuff I never have time for on a Saturday afternoon. Along with the logistics of living in a damp … [Read more...]
Make it Easy | Copper, Rope & Rubber Necklace
My favourite part of this weeks make it easy necklace is the rubber. Do you ever get that feeling of invisibility sometimes? Sort of like you're just slipping through the cracks a little. I was listening to an episode of This American Life the other day that explored the idea of superpowers. Which would you choose; invisibility or flight? Flight was the ideal, unashamed power whereas invisibility was often the darker, solitary choice. Flight was a force for good and invisibility mysterious … [Read more...]
DIY Copper Pipe and Wood Slice Side Table
This side table is the perfect example of procrastination. I have been 'planning' this tutorial since we purchased our Christmas tree and it came with this hunk of wood on the bottom. I (naturally) squirrelled it away to make into the perfect DIY at a later date... Six months and 500 ideas later I decided I had to just get on with it and I'm so happy I did! No longer do I have to reach so far for my coffee in the morning. That in itself is worth it. Materials: Wood Slice Bench … [Read more...]
DIY Copper Pipe & Quartz Necklace
There are so many amazing copper pipe projects out there at the moment that we've all probably got small sections of pipe left over, just waiting for a flash of inspiration to give them a purpose. Well here's my gift to the discarded piping of the world and the wearers of said pipe. Materials: 4cm/1.5" copper pipe Small quartz crystal shard 0.8mm/20G copper wire E6000 Glue Kumihimo Braid (Click here to make your own) Instructions: 1. Glue your crystal onto the copper pipe … [Read more...]
DIY Copper + Pine Magazine Rack
Magazine racks have become big business in my flat recently. Like most creative people I'm a self-confessed hoarder and I find it difficult to get rid of magazines, newspaper and supplements before I have read and digested (or dismissed) everything I want from them. Rather than storing them in piles until my memory of their contents is sufficiently diminished and Al can throw them out (recycle) without me noticing, we can now store them neatly in magazine racks until he gets his chance. This … [Read more...]
